NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:
With an objective to enhance safe vegetable production, strengthening knowledge and capacity of marginal farmers on eco-friendly technology, “Support for Poverty Reduction and Improvement of Food Security through the Development of Resilience to Climate Change and Sustainable Agriculture (PcDM) project has kick started in Sindhupalchowk from April 1, 2021. The project is financially supported by presidency of the council of ministers, Italy and is being implemented in partnership with ASIA.
The temperature, topography, market availability, and farmers' genuine interest in Sindhupalchowk district give a huge potential for fresh vegetable production as well as nursery sapling production. The 2015 earthquake had a severe impact in this area, resulting 40% loss in employment opportunities, and,a 30% drop in agriculture income. As a result, young people have been continuously migrating to other countries for employment. To help address these issues, ASIA and CEAPRED jointly designed a project PCdM.
