NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT

The RPI is to reduce dollar a day rural poverty through the support of value chains that will spread of small plot micro-irrigation water technologies that are affordable for the rural poor, and are used by farmers to produce high-value marketable agricultural products.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED

  • Increasing the net income of 8,000 smallholder farmers by $250 in four years through adoption of micro-irrigation technologies and participation in commercial markets for high-value crops
  • Facilitate the development, testing, and adoption of micro-irrigation technologies for new smallholder farm families in two plains districts and two hill districts
  • Increase the area irrigated by about 800 hectares due to the application of water technologies from this project
  • Develop and promote multi-use water system
  • Strengthening institutional linkages
