NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
| The main objective of this project was to contribute towards food security, poverty alleviation and sustainable development, and create a conducive environment for children to help them realize all round development. The project also aimed at establishing vegetable kitchen gardens and model farms as income generating activities, supporting poultry activities for increasing household income of landless and near landless families and improving the food security and nutritional status of the participating farmers, particularly of children and women, through increased availability consumption, and sale of vegetable and poultry birds. Strengthening the local capacity by providing training to the beneficiaries on vegetable farming, kitchen gardening, plant protection measures and poultry raising and also providing extension services, technical support and veterinary services to the beneficiaries for the activities undertaken constitute the project activity. The project also aimed at improving know-how of the participating farmers through strong backstopping and training on various aspects of farm management and thereby providing marketing support through hat bazaars (local market), assistance in shed construction, marketing information dissemination and market linkage. |
