NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
The objective of this TA Study was to assist the Government in preparing a detailed proposal for the Crop Diversification Project which aimed at contributing to the Government's development objective of poverty reduction through agricultural development in gender and crop diversification in particular. |
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED
The TA Study examined (i) the agricultural extension services in Nepal for crop diversification; (ii) the production and marketing potential of important cash crops in the proposed project area; (iii) past external assistance in the agriculture sector including the Bank’s ongoing projects, and lessons learned; (iv) detailed cost estimates and financing plan; (v) capabilities of institutions involved in the project implementation; (vi) environmental and social impacts, including poverty and gender issues; (vii) benchmark data and information for benefit monitoring and evaluation as specified in the project framework; (viii) financial and economic returns; and (ix) other specific issues identified during the study phase. |
