NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
The Center implemented a community-based solid waste management program in Kupondole with the help of committed women volunteers covering nearly 300 households. A series of household visits, group meetings and trainings were conducted to mobilize women to undertake the solid waste management. As a result, Women Environment Preservation Committee (WEPCO) was formed and took the responsibility of implementing the program in various local areas. This committee comprising of housewives have become a role model for the society in preserving and managing the environment. WEPCO now has become a sustainable organization and provides services to over 1000 households and has diversified its activities. CEAPRED has accorded WEPCO a sistership status. |
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED
CEAPRED provided Team Leader, support staff and logistic support to the Project. Major activities undertaken include the followings:

- Awareness rising on Urban Environment degradation due to solid waste
- Training on Solid Waste Management
- Institutionalization of solid waste management
