Chief District Officer visited project sites at Namobuddha, Kavre
CEAPRED organized a cross-learning visit for the Chief District Officer (CDO) from the District Administration Office (DAO) of Kavrepalanchowk to its project sites in Namobuddha Municipality on December 20, 2024. The Executive Director of CEAPRED accompanied the visit, and the Mayor of Namobuddha Municipality Khunsang Lama, warmly welcomed the team at his office, sharing the successful achievements of CEAPRED's collaboration with the municipality.
The purpose of the visit was to observe the ongoing activities of the HIREAP project, assess the effectiveness of springshed conservation efforts, explore how agriculture is integrated with water conservation, promote knowledge exchange between government officials and local communities, and identify potential areas for collaboration between the DAO and Namobuddha Municipality.
The CDO Umesh Kumar Dhakal expressed appreciation for being part of the cross-learning event, commended the fieldwork, and showed interest in supporting future initiatives. The Chief Administrative Officer from Namobuddha Municipality Krishna Giri emphasized the significance of lift irrigation and conveyed the municipality's willingness to coordinate with CEAPRED. He also expressed strong support for organic vegetable production initiatives.
The Executive Director of CEAPRED highlighted the visible improvements in Chaurangefedi over the past seven years and underscored the key role of women and local communities in maintaining both springshed and agricultural initiatives. He also noted the positive changes in the village, particularly the reduction in migration to the Middle East, attributed to the shift towards commercial agriculture.
