Seed Production and Marketing Workshop held in Surkhet

“Seed Production and Marketing Workshop” was held in Surkhet on 26th June, 2011 as a part of VSP III activities. The workshop was aimed for both Surkhet and Rukum cluster. Dr. Shyam Kishor Sah, Regional Director, chaired the program whereas; the participants included representatives from District Agriculture Office, VDC, Local NGOs, INGOs, Seed Companies, Cooperatives, Agro-vets and Media. Dr. Ramchandra Bhusal, Marketing and Value Chain Specialist, CEAPRED Central Office, highlighted the objects and expectations of the workshop along with the introductory note on CEAPRED and VSP III. This was followed by experience sharing from DADOs, Representatives of Agro-vets, Seed companies and Cooperatives. The workshop therefore turned out to be an important forum for discussing and resolving existing issues of seed production and marketing in the region. It also helped in strengthening linkages of all stakeholders primarily among farmers’ cooperatives, agro-vets and seed companies in order to improve seed production and marketing scenario.
