Review of National Consultation on “Organic Nepal Program: Framework and Way Forward”

CEAPRED organized Organic Nepal Program: National Consultation and Way Forward on 28th December 2010, in its central office premises. The main objectives of the program were to provide a platform for discussion on the importance and knowledge of organic agriculture in global as well as Nepalese context and to generate a shared understanding and pave the ground for networking and coordination for the “Organic Nepal” program. The program saw over seventy participants with representations from a wide range of governmental, nongovernmental and academic agricultural and social organizations. The program constituted of three segments; first segment comprised the opening remarks and technical presentations, second segment- group discussion and third segment-general discussion and declaration. The program was triumphant in bringing the much needed initiative and support for organic agriculture in Nepal. In addition Organic Nepal Committee with representation from MOAC, DOA, NMVF, NARC, GSMTF, NLA, K.U, CEAPRED, NASSA, ANFPA, AEC, NAF and Earth Open Source was formed to plan and implement a way forward for organic farming in Nepal.
