The Second Meeting of Central Level Program Advisory Committee of UNNATI Project Held

The 2nd meeting of Central Level Program Advisory Committee of UNNATI Project was held on 11 November 2014 in the premises of CEAPRED’s central office. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Director General in the Department of Agriculture, Mr. Birendra Bahadur Hamal. The senior officials representing Central Development Regional Directorate of Agriculture, Plant Protection Directorate, Department of Food Technology and Quality Control, Social Welfare Council, Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development, Department of Cooperatives, Vegetable Directorate of Department of Agriculture, CARE Nepal, CEAPRED and the project attended the meeting as members and invitees attended the meeting. Mr. Indra Raj Pandey, Team Leader of Vegetable Seed Project and the technical focal person cum Member-Secretary of UNNATI, welcomed the participants and explained the objectives of the meeting. The key objectives of the meeting were: to review the updated progress of the project for the period ending in October 2014 and to seek committee’s guidance on formulation of the year 2015 work plan and budget. Introducing the agenda, he highlighted decisions of the past meeting.

Mr. Anil C. Neupane, Project Manager of UNNATI/CARE Nepal, made a power point presentation highlighting the outputs/outcomes as at October, 2014 based on project log frame. Similarly, Mr. Harihar Kafle, Program Coordinator of UNNATI/CEAPRED, made the power point presentation on the updated progress of the project based on Detail implementation Plan (DIP) of the year 2014. His presentation focused on: progress against the planned activities, best practices introduced by the project, constraints faced and way forward. The members provided valuable guidance and suggestions on the preparation of implementation plan for the year 2015, and also agreed on the date and venue for next advisory committee meeting.

The meeting was formally closed by the chairperson with his valuable remarks thanking each participant for his/her time and precious inputs and appreciating joint venture of CEAPRED and CARE Nepal in initiating such a useful and successful program on commercial safe vegetable production and marketing engaging small holders of Sindhuli and Mahottari districts.
