Nepal Economic, Agriculture and Trade (NEAT) Activity Launched

Nepal Economic, Agriculture and Trade (NEAT) Activity has been launched in January 2011, Jointly by CEAPRED, Chemonics International Inc., Fintrac Incorporated, The Kaizen Company, Land O’Lakes Incorporated, Making cents International, METCON Consultants And WOCAN with the Aid from USAID. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to reducing poverty and increasing accessibility and improved basic services in project areas of district to manage equitable livelihood initiatives that improve the quality of life of people, especially those who are disadvantaged and marginalized, such as women, Dalits and indigenous ethnic groups.

The key project activities include increasing productivity of competitive value chains by providing training of trainers, direct technical assistance, and starter-kits (improved seed, fertilizer, micro and other key inputs.), improving food security and increasing income by: creating market linkages, developing information systems for the distribution of commodity prices and other key market information, developing and promoting business to business events, developing and promoting market fairs, removing market constraints(sanitary and phytosanitary standards, and other technical barriers to trade) and identifying competitive value chains and market constraints and increasing access to finance.
